Suncorp Insurance partners with various insurance brokers, including Autosure, Turners, and DPL Insurance, to offer insurance quotes and policies to customers.

Challenge

Suncorp Insurance recognized the need to enhance their processes and improve broker satisfaction by providing a more streamlined experience for creating insurance quotes and policies. They aimed to develop a centralized web application that would enable approximately 700 insurance brokers to generate insurance quotes and policies efficiently. Additionally, Suncorp Insurance wanted to provide personalized commission statements to each broker in a secure and timely manner. The challenge was to implement the necessary APIs and develop a system that would send encrypted commission statements to each broker’s email address along with a separate email conversation containing the password to open the file, all within the first week of every month.

Solution

N2N Solutions provided a technical Business Analyst (BA) resource with expertise in API integration, web application development, and secure file transfer mechanisms. The BA played a critical role in understanding the requirements of Suncorp Insurance and its partner companies, as well as translating those requirements into technical specifications for the development team.

 

The N2N Solutions BA worked closely with stakeholders from Suncorp Insurance, Autosure, Turners, and DPL Insurance to gather detailed requirements for both the insurance quotes and policies creation process and the personalized commission statements distribution. They conducted extensive interviews and workshops to understand the specific data fields, business rules, and workflows required for these processes.

 

Based on the requirements, the BA collaborated with the development team to design and implement a comprehensive APIs-enabled web application. The application allowed insurance brokers to create insurance quotes and policies efficiently using personalized login credentials.

 

To address the commission statements distribution requirement, the BA proposed a secure and automated process. The system generated personalized commission statements for each broker and encrypted them. Using the brokers’ email addresses stored in the system, the web application automatically sent the encrypted commission statements as file attachments to the respective brokers’ email accounts. In a separate email conversation, the application sent the password required to open the encrypted commission statement file. This process was scheduled to occur within the first week of every month.

 

The BA worked closely with Suncorp Insurance’s IT security team to ensure the encrypted commission statements were transmitted securely and that the password email conversations were protected. The BA also ensured that the system met data protection and privacy regulations.

 

Throughout the development process, the BA facilitated effective communication and collaboration among stakeholders. They conducted regular meetings, provided progress updates, and addressed any concerns or questions raised by the client or partner companies.

To address security and privacy concerns, the BA worked closely with Suncorp Insurance’s IT security team to implement robust authentication and authorization mechanisms. This included personalized login credentials for each insurance broker, ensuring that only authorized individuals could access and manage insurance quotes and policies.

 

The BA also played a key role in user acceptance testing (UAT), working with representatives from Suncorp Insurance, Autosure, Turners, and DPL Insurance to validate the functionality and usability of the web application. They facilitated the resolution of any issues or bugs identified during UAT and ensured that the application met the needs of all stakeholders.
